The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch for Chatam-Kent in anticipation of heavy rainfall this long weekend.
There was a special weather statement issued by Environment Canada with total accumulation in the 30-60 mm range.
The recent rainfall means the ground won’t be able to absorb the downfall.
There are also some strong Easterly winds expected to cause some high waves in Lake Erie and that along with
the rain could lead to flooding.
With local creeks and streams expected to rise there is a good chance the McGregor Creek Diversion Channel will be put into operation to protect Chatham’s South end.
Water levels will also be effected in Lake St. Clair.
This watch is in effect until May 24th.
