It’s a holiday tradition 45 years in the making.
Today marks the annual Childs’ family Poor Boy Luncheon.
Mark Childs says everything gets underway at 11 o’clock at the UAW Hall.
“We’ve raised $330,000 to date,” says organizer Mark Childs. “We’d sure like to bump that up five or six thousand, actually I’d like to see $8000.”
There is no set price for the meal, just by donation.
All of the money raised helps to support the Salvation Army and residents in Wallaceburg.
“There’s this big story that keeps circulating every year that (the money raised) doesn’t stay in Wallaceburg,” Childs says. “Even what we raise, far more comes back to Wallaceburg, everything that we raise will be spent in Wallaceburg.”
The Poor Boy Luncheon kicks off at 11 o’clock this morning at the UAW Hall, with the final seating beginning at 1pm.
