While the results in Thursday night’s provincial election came fast and furious, it seems area residents making their way to the polls did not.
Most major media outlets had called a PC victory in Ontario within 15 minutes of the polls closing last night, and local candidates elected less than half an hour later.
Elections Ontario officials say more than one million ballots were cast in advance polls across the province, and over 126,000 mail-in ballots were requested.
Voter turnout in Chatham-Kent Leamington was just 42.3%, compared to 56.8% in 2018.
In Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, 44.8% of eligible voters cast their ballot, compared to 60.7% in the last provincial election.
The provincial voter turnout rate sits at 43%, considered to be the lowest in Ontario history.
