Making a Splash in Wallaceburg

Thanks to a helping hand from the municipality, the Wallaceburg Splash Pad Committee has reached its fundraising goal. splash

Council unanimously approved an interest free $50,000 loan towards building the pad at Colwell Park.

Committee Chair Chris Young says he’s thrilled.

“It’ll get our project kicked off and now we’ll be able to get the request for proposal out and get some bids in and get this splash pad built,” he says. “This is wonderful support by the community of Chatham-Kent, mayor, and council for our project.”

Young says the Kinsmen Club has also announced it’s donating another $10,000 to the project, which combined with the municipal loan and fundraising efforts, brings them to their goal of $200,000.

The committee hopes to have construction underway later this spring and the splash pad open to the public before the end of the summer.
