Allegedly slashing the tires of a police cruiser and breaking into a local liquor store has resulted in charges for a Blenheim man.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a witness reported seeing a man puncturing tires at the police station on Talbot Street in Blenheim at around 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Upon inspecting the parking lot, officers found four tires on a cruiser had been damaged.

Less than 10 minutes later, officers responded to an alarm at the LCBO on Marlborough Street South.

Authorities used surveillance footage to determine that the same man was responsible for both incidents.

The suspect, 43-year-old Blenheim man, was located and arrested at around 7:30 p.m. He is now charged with mischief, break-and-enter and theft, and was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
