A Harwich Township woman has turned herself in to police following an assault in Blenheim.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to multiple reports about a domestic disturbance at a Blenheim residence on October 24 at around 8 p.m.

Authorities said a verbal argument between a man and a woman escalated when the woman began throwing objects at the man. The woman then physically assaulted the victim and caused property damage. The woman left the home before officers arrived, and an arrest warrant was issued.

The victim, a 30-year-old Blenheim man, suffered minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.

A 44-year-old Harwich Township woman turned herself in at police headquarters on Wednesday in connection with the incident. She is now charged with assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, and mischief under $5,000.

The accused was later released from custody with a November court date.
