A Chatham man is facing a slew of charges after an incident late last week.
Authorities say the incident began on Longwoods Road last Thursday when police pulled over a vehicle with expired tags.
The officer suspects the driver may have been drinking, but before a roadside test could be done, the suspect took off, running over the officer’s foot and nearly hitting another car.
The officer didn’t give in to the chase, citing safety concerns, but the suspect was tracked down and arrested this morning.
The 41-year-old is now charged with flight from police, assault with a weapon, and dangerous driving, among other things.
