Pulling the fire alarm at a police station is one way to get the attention of officers.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said a man entered police headquarters on Third Street in Chatham on Wednesday at around 11:30 p.m. and activated the fire alarm without cause.

The man was arrested but spat on a police officer when he was lodged in his cell.

As a result, a 31-year-old Chatham man has been charged with causing a false fire alarm, assaulting a peace officer and failing to comply with a probation order. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
