Man Charged In Collision That Killed Two Seniors

Charges have now been laid nearly six months after two pedestrians were struck and killed by a vehicle near Charing Cross.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said shortly before 7 p.m. on May 18, a vehicle travelling north on Charing Cross Road struck two women at Horton Line.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures. However, the women, aged 66 and 68, both succumbed to their injuries.

On Tuesday, authorities announced that a 24-year-old man from Raleigh Township is now charged with two counts of careless driving causing death in connection with the collision.

He is scheduled to appear in court in December.
