Charges have been laid against a local man after a fight with police.

Officers responded to a family dispute at a Talbot Trail address around 6 o’clock Saturday evening, where they found an intoxicated man.

Authorities say the man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and brought him back to police headquarters to sober up.

However, once they arrived, authorities say the man became combative and attacked an officer during the booking process.

The 22-year-old has now also been charged with assaulting a peace officer, and was later released with a future court date.
