Man Learns Bail Conditions Aren’t Optional

A Chatham man is in trouble with the law once again, allegedly violating the terms of his bail which led to an assault.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers were called to a home in the southwest area of Chatham at around 8:30 p.m. on Friday after receiving a report that a man had breached his release conditions.

Authorities said the accused allegedly entered the home without permission to search for property and pushed the victim. The man was under conditions from a previous offence prohibiting communication with the victim and attending her address.

As a result, the 36-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault, unlawfully being in a dwelling, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a bail hearing.
