Police were forced to use a Taser to take a suspect into custody following a theft in Wallaceburg
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said officers responded to the theft at a retail business just before 1:30 p.m. on Sunday and located a suspect riding a bicycle on McNaughton Avenue.
Authorities said the man became confrontational and resisted arrest, forcing officers to use a Taser to take him into custody safely.
As a result, a 30-year-old Chatham-Kent man has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of stolen property under $5,000, and assaulting a peace officer with intent to resist. The accused was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
