The long arm of the law finally caught up with a local man.
Chatham-Kent Police first arrested the accused in August, 2021 following a disturbance at a local motel during which a woman was assaulted. Police say once taken into custody, the man engaged in destructive behaviour, rendering a holding cell unusable.
The accused was eventually released from custody, but failed to show up for a court appearance over a year later.
A warrant was issued for his arrest, and this past Wednesday, authorities say the man was taken into custody by the Waterloo Regional Police Service. He was handed back over to Chatham-Kent Police and held for a bail hearing.
