Charges have been laid following a police standoff in Chatham’s east end.
Constable Kelly Helbin says everything started yesterday afternoon when a man tried to collect some belongings from a house he shared with the suspect.
The man returned several hours later, but was again met by his roommate, armed with the gun and bat. Police were called, and the suspect was eventually taken into custody around 12:30 this morning.
The 63-year-old is charged with various offences, including uttering threats and assault with a weapon.
