Manslaughter Guilty Plea

A Chatham man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter following the death of a Howard Township man last fall.

31-year-old Beau Veenstra was rushed to hospital following a fight on Sandys Street on September 21, 2021 and succumbed to his injuries in hospital just over two weeks later.

Three people were arrested and charged with second degree murder.

In court yesterday, one of the accused, 26-year-old Daulton Bastien, pleaded not guilty to the second-degree murder charge, but guilty to manslaughter.

He’ll be sentenced November 23rd.

The charges against the other two accused remain before the courts.
