Today is Chatham-Kent Manufacturing Day and students across the municipality are learning about the role manufacturing plays in the local economy.
Business Development Specialist Geoff Wright says 270 students and teachers are visiting nine manufacturing companies throughout the day.
“They’re taking tours and learning that manufacturing isn’t the same as their grandfather’s manufacturing company anymore. They’re learning about robotics, engineering, and how important it is to stay in school and learn about wonderful subjects we call STEM – science, technology, engineering, and math.”
Wright says the tour gives students a chance to learn about possible career opportunities, as well as a better understanding of the role manufacturing plays in our community.
