Thousands of dollars has been raised in support of mental health supports, thanks to a recent event involving the Chatham Maroons.

The GOHL club once again partnered with the Mental Health Table last month for the second annual Face Off for Mental Health game at Memorial Arena in Chatham.

The Maroons auctioned off special green warmup jerseys and other donated sports memorabilia. Including a donation from the team, the January 18th event raised $3767 to support mental health programming for youth in the community.

Members of the TIMBITS U7 house league hockey team scrimmaged during the first intermission and also participated in a pre-game ceremony to remind everyone that mental health matters at every age.

“The Chatham Jr Maroons continue to be incredible role models for young athletes and the community,” said Cathy DeBresser Knowler, Chair of the Mental Health Table in a news release. “By partnering in this awareness game, we hope to spark meaningful conversations and empower players, families, and fans to recognize the signs of struggle and know where to find help.”

The Mental Health Table is a community-driven initiative working to break the stigma surrounding mental health and connect people with the resources they need, when they need them.
