A local hockey club will be hitting the water instead of the ice this weekend.
The Chatham Maroons will be joining the Breast Buddies dragon boat team for their final practice of the season on Saturday, paddling along the east branch of the Sydenham River, starting at 8:30am.
The players will then lift the dragon boat out of the water and clean it before the boat is stored for the winter.
The Maroons hockey club has been a strong supporter of Breast Cancer Awareness Month since 2014, raising money for the Breast Buddies and the Canadian Cancer Society.
This year’s Pink the Rink breast cancer awareness night will take place at Memorial Arena on Sunday, October 18th when the Maroons host Strathroy.
