Firefighters on Walpole Island are being kept busy, tackling a slew of marsh fires.
Officials with the First Nations community’s fire department say crews responded to multiple reports of fires Thursday afternoon, working diligently to protect residents, properties, and implementing controlled burn backs where possible.
Fire officials are also monitoring a fire on St Anne’s Island, but say the blaze doesn’t pose a threat to any community members or residences.
However, anyone who witnesses someone starting a fire is urged to contact authorities immediately.
