Construction is set to begin Thursday afternoon on an expansion at the Mary Webb Centre in Highgate.
The historic 300-seat venue is growing with the creation of new washroom.
Marg Eberle is the chair of the board for the center and says when there’s a crowd, logistics become a problem.
“So we had to do something about washrooms, and also we’re not accessible, there’s 4 steps going down and then 10 steps going back up,” says Eberle. “So it’s difficult for anybody that has a problem getting up and down stairs.
Eberle says the renovations will be in keeping with the historic feel of the building.
Total cost of the additions is more than $700,000.
