While many COVID restrictions and mandates are lifting across the province, officials at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance want to make sure residents know their policies remain intact.

CEO Lori Marshall says hospitals in the region will be working together to come up with consistent policies, as they have in the past.

“It’s important to know that at this stage, there is no change,” Marshall explains. “While some of the stages are earlier for other areas within our province, health care facilities like hospitals will continue to be masking.”

Marshall says the masking policy applies to anyone coming into CKHA, including visitors and care partners.

The province has announced mask mandates for health care settings will be lifted on April 27th, but Marshall says it’s too soon to say whether CKHA will continue with its own policy beyond that.

Provincial vaccination policies for hospitals, long term care facilities, and schools ended on Monday. However, Marshall has previously stated there are no plans to end CKHA’s vaccination requirements for staff, physicians, volunteers, and new hires.
