It’s official, a Chatham-Kent councillor is entering the provincial political ring.

Brock McGregor has been confirmed as the NDP candidate for the riding of Chatham-Kent-Leamington in the upcoming Ontario election this June.

The 37-year-old has served in municipal politics since 2014, representing Ward Six and serving as Chatham-Kent’s budget chair for the last several years.

McGregor is running against incumbent Rick Nicholls, who is representing the Ontario Party after being ousted by the Progressive Conservatives for refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19, and Conservative candidate Trevor Jones. As yet, the Liberal Party has yet to declare a candidate for the riding.

McGregor is hitting the ground running, holding an open house at his campaign headquarters at 235 St Clair Street in Chatham this Saturday from 12-2pm.
