With a new set of councillors around the table, Municipal Budget Chair Brock McGregor is hopeful that the 2019 budget will be responsible.
“It’s going to be a new experience, I think that will promote some more questions and I think that process may take a little bit longer than it took in the last couple of years, but that’s not a bad thing,” McGregor says.
“I think we’re going to see a different attitude perhaps about what we’re looking at in terms of investment, definitely we’re expecting to see some challenges down the road with changes in provincial funding.”
The first-time Budget Chair says he doesn’t expect too many big items to be brought forward, but says that council will continue to focus on infrastructure. He says there will also be some focus on working more with community groups.
The draft document will be presented to council Wednesday night, and deliberations get underway on January 30th.
