Voices in the Wind Audio Theatre has partnered with Anne of Green Gables alumna Megan Follows to create a unique audio version of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic Emily of New Moon.

Producer David Farquhar says the goal is to bring something new and at the same time, familiar.

“Normally, we do full cast audio theatre productions, this is kind of like a hybrid,” Farquhar says. “We’re going to use some of the elements that we use in the full-cast productions like music and sound effects, but basically just have Megan, because she’s such a skilled actor, she can do the various voices.”

Farquhar says Follows was the first person to come to mind to voice the book, and were able to get her on board after several months of negotiations.

“It’s really cool to be working on something that is so popular that is Canadian, and working with the calibre of someone like Megan, who is known world-wide for her role as Anne in the original CBC production,” Farquhar says.

Recording is tentatively scheduled to begin in the spring, with an August release on Audible.
