
Several charges have been laid after two men were held against their will and assaulted by another man wielding a hatchet and a screwdriver.
The Chatham-Kent Police Service said two men were threatened and prevented from leaving a residence on Princess Street North in Chatham on Friday. During the incident, one of the victims was struck in the head with a hatchet, and one was attacked with a screwdriver.
The victim, who was struck in the head, received medical treatment from EMS, but authorities have not released the severity of his injuries.
Police were called about the incident on Saturday, and a suspect was arrested.
A 48-year-old Chatham-Kent man is now charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats, forcible confinement, theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000. He was taken to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.
