Child services in Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton are partnering with local school boards to enhance mental health support for children and youth.
Linck Child, Youth & Family Supports and St. Clair Child and Youth Services have signed an official agreement with the region’s English language school boards to implement Ontario’s “Right Time, Right Care” approach for children’s mental health.
Right Time, Right Care is an initiative that strengthens mental health and addiction services by connecting schools with community agencies for faster and more coordinated care.
“For families, accessing the right mental health supports as they are identified can make all the difference in outcomes,” said Carol Moore, the director of mental health at Linck, in a news release. “Right Time, Right Care helps streamline pathways while allowing us to work more closely with partners, ensuring that children and youth receive access to timely care when they need it most.”
This initiative emphasizes timely, targeted support through immediate crisis intervention, ongoing counselling, or therapeutic services, which are delivered collaboratively by educators, mental health professionals, and community partners.
Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton are the first service areas in the province to enter into this kind of partnership agreement.
