A cautionary tale about the dangers of charging batteries following a house fire in Merlin. 
Crews from three stations responded to a Middle Line home shortly before 8 last night after a remote control airplane battery caught ablaze.
The flames were fanned by the wind, however fire fighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading to a nearby garage and outbuilding.
Damage is pegged at $150,000, luckily there were no injuries.
