An update from yesterday’s story out of Merlin.
Police say a 49-year-old man handed three teens $50 a piece while they waited for the morning school bus in Merlin Wednesday.
The man drove off but police caught up with him after witnesses reported the incident.
During the traffic stop the man began acting oddly and was arrested for his safety and that of the officer.
With help from the Chatham-Kent Mobile Crisis Unit the man’s state was assessed and he was found to not be a danger.
Finding no criminal act was committed he was released.
The students retained their $50; treating themselves come lunch hour.
