A local Christmas fundraiser is providing “hope for the holidays” by supporting local children across Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton.
Organized by the Lambton Kent and St Clair Catholic District school boards, the fourth annual Merry Magic fundraiser kicks off at the Links of Kent Golf Club and Event Centre on Wednesday.
Those attending the event will get to browse decorated Christmas trees donated by local businesses, with the chance of taking one home by purchasing raffle tickets.
Caress Lee, the public relations officer for the Lambton-Kent District School Board and chair of Noelle’s Gift to Children, said each of the sponsored trees has a theme.
“Not only do you get to go through and see all these wonderful trees, similar to a light show, but you then you also get [a chance] to take one home with you with all of the attached gifts and prizes,” she said. “There are a lot of amazing trees.”
The two-week fundraiser runs through November 30, featuring several activities, including a Seniors’ Holiday Tea, a Gingerbread House Contest, Breakfast with Santa, and more.
All proceeds will support children and youth across Chatham-Kent through Noelle’s Gift to Children and the Chatham Goodfellows.
“The need in our schools is huge, it’s only getting larger every year it seems, and Noelle’s Gift is always there,” said Lee. “To be able to support them, we’re just so thankful to the community.”
