The Perseid meteor shower continues tonight, and if the sky clears, it promises to be a good show.
Rhiannon Blaauw is a meteor physicist and says while there are up to 60 meteor showers a year, this is special.
“The Perseid’s are unique because they outburst every once in a while so in their normal rates in their peak you would see 100 an hour in ideal conditions,” says Blaauw.“InĀ 1993 there was 300 an hour and in 2009 there was also a big outburst and 2016 is another one of those outburst years.”
After peaking this morning, the shower will taper out until the 24th of August.
