Don’t be alarmed if you see some heavy military machinery in the area this weekend.

Canadian Army Reserve personnel from 31 Canadian Brigade Group will be conducting a winter training exercise at the Cedar Springs Range and Training Area on Saturday.

Officials say the training will include a number of vehicles moving through the Chatham-Kent, Windsor, and Sarnia areas, including along Highway 3, the 401 and 402.

Participating members will be carrying unloaded weapons, but no ammunition will be present.

“This important training is being conducted in order to maintain and further develop the skills of Canadian Army Reserve soldiers in Armoured Reconnaissance operations, and to practice discipline, safety and effectiveness while operating specific vehicle platforms in cold weather conditions,” Public Affairs Officer Lt. Andre McLaughlin says in a media release.

All of the soldiers will be practicing enhanced Force Health Protection Measures based on, and in addition to Public Health guidelines, including wearing masks, extra sanitizing of equipment and hands, and physical distancing where possible.
