Minister Calls For Immigration Expansion

MPP Monte McNaughton meeting with constituents at the Wallaceburg Legion, January 4, 2020.

The provincial government is calling on the feds to allow more skilled immigrants into Ontario.

The statement came from Monte McNaughton, Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development on Wednesday.

McNaughton says, “Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program is a key step in addressing the province’s skilled labour shortage…This program helps grow our booming technology sector, staff the skilled construction trades, and meet regional needs.

Ontario is only allowed to allocate about 67-hundred nominees, and McNaughton wants to double that number.
