Mission Plane Making A Stop in CK

A special treat for aviation enthusiasts at the Chatham-Kent Municipal Airport this weekend.

Mission Aviation Fellowship – or MAF – is showcasing the newest addition to its fleet, used for medical evacuations and other mission work in Angola, on the west coast of southern Africa.

The plane is on a cross-country tour before heading to Africa, and Aaron McPhail, president of the CK chapter of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association, says it’s a special treat to have it stop in CK.

“We’ve been working fairly closely with Mission Aviation Fellowship, we’ve developed a local relationship with them and because of that they decided to bring (the plane) to Chatham as part of the tour, as part of the fundraising effort to help support the aircraft, and we’re really pleased they’ve decided to come to Chatham.”

The Cessna Grand Caravan will be on display at the Chatham-Kent airport Saturday morning.
