Several hundred Dresden residents turned out to get swabbed at this week’s mobile COVID testing clinics.
200 residents were swabbed on the first day of the Dresden clinic, and 101 turned out on Wednesday.
Cane Suni, the Health Alliance’s Vice President of Clinical Operations, says that will likely be the last mobile clinics, at least for the time being.
“There’s a series of partners that will be coming together to discuss what our fall testing strategy will look like,” Suni explains. “We do know with schools going back in a matter of days in some instances and the ongoing need for testing, there’s a lot of discussion occurring in terms of what our strategy looks like next.”
The primary assessment centre on Emma Street in Chatham remains open seven days a week.
“As of now, there is no specific plan for mobile testing, that doesn’t mean it’s off the table completely, but we do know what we need to do is plan for a sustainable model,” Suni says. “Once the weather starts to change, especially when it gets a lot cooler, more wet, more snow, more ice, the mobile testing isn’t going to be a safe option for individuals in the community or to have our teams out there.”
