A recent donation is giving local children with mobility impairments the chance to experience a level of independence that many of us take for granted.
The Children’s Treatment Centre of Chatham-Kent (CTC-CK) has been given an Explorer Mini device, which encourages self-initiated movement while providing a safe, stable and upright posture. The mobility device is used during therapy sessions and allows the children to decide where they want to go.
“It is incredible to watch children using the Explorer Mini,” said Donna Litwin-Makey, the executive director of the treatment centre.
The Explorer Mini was recently donated by Plasman, an automotive components manufacturer, after mobility was identified as an area at the treatment centre that had the greatest need.
“We are very grateful for this addition to the centre’s specialty equipment in order to open opportunities for our children and youth,” added Litwin-Makey.
