Two local groups are doing their best to make sure we are eating our apples.

The Public health Unit, and Student Nutrition program are teaming up with Thiessen Apple Orchards to hand out thousands of apples.

Monday they will be in Wallaceburg visiting all the schools along with the food bank and Salvation Army.

Dietitian Lindsay Davidson says “ Monday will be their third day going out. They have been working to get many of the apples bagged so some of the apples are already done, but there is lot’s we’ve had to bag ourselves so that has taken some time. Once they are bagged they get them out to the communities as quickly as possible.”

Thiessen has donated over 3,000 apples for the project that will continue Tuesday in other areas of the municipality including Dresden, and Thamesville.
