More CK Covid Patients Have Recovered

Chatham-Kent is seeing a handful of new COVID-19 cases, but also more recoveries.

Seven new cases were reported on Monday, including data from Friday afternoon, but Public Health officials say another 24 patients recovered, bringing the active case count to 66 with four people still in hospital.

A report in the London Free Press indicated Chatham-Kent had reported 20 new cases over the weekend, which was clarified by the local Public Health Unit.

“According to our records, we had 8 new cases on the 13th and according to the Province (PHO), we had 11 new cases on the 14th (totaling 19). Some cases come in after we extract our data, so that’s why you may have read 20 cases in a day from PHO. In addition, we confirmed we had a false positive result in Chatham-Kent.”

As for how the virus is spreading, data from Public Health indicates the majority of the active cases – 32 – were contracted through close contact with another positive case, 11 through workplace outbreaks, 7 are travel-related, 9 are still under investigation, and 5 are unknown.
