More CK Residents are Working

Unemployment in Chatham-Kent continues to decline, but municipal officials are focusing on a different number.

For the second time in the past 11 years, unemployment in Chatham-Kent is under 6%. Statistics from September show unemployment is at 5.9%.

But Stuart McFadden, acting director of Economic Development Services, is focusing on the number of jobs added to the Chatham-Kent economy in the past four months.

He says 1,700 jobs were created, and nearly 50,000 people in the municipality are working.

McFadden also says the number of people who are employed is the highest it’s been since this time last year.
