An outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at AA Wright Public School in Wallaceburg. Public Health says at this point there are five cases associated with the outbreak, and staff continue working with the Lambton Kent District School Board on reaching out to anyone who may have been in close contact with the virus.

Meantime, a pair of cases have cropped up in the Ursuline College school community. The St Clair Catholic District School Board says one student tested positive on Friday, resulting in 21 students being sent into quarantine. A second case was confirmed yesterday, although officials say that student isn’t attending classes right now so there has been no impact on the school as a whole.

In all there are six schools in Chatham-Kent, three each in the public and English catholic boards, dealing with cases of COVID-19, however the majority don’t affect any other student or staff.

Lambton County, meantime, has a total of 24 schools with COVID cases in the two main boards. Brook Central Public School in Alvinston, and North Lambton Secondary School in Forest remain closed.
