More arrests have been made as local authorities battle a drug epidemic on Walpole Island.
In a joint effort involving Lambton OPP, Walpole Island Police, and Chatham-Kent Police, officers raided a home on Peters Road early Saturday morning, seizing suspected fentanyl, meth, and hydromorphone, along with a loaded firearm and ammunition.
A 41-year-old Walpole Island man has been charged with drug possession and trafficking offences as well as weapons charges.
A 30-year-old Windsor woman is charged with two counts of drug possession, uttering threats, and assaulting a peace officer.
Authorities say the search warrant was a result of ongoing investigations into the state of emergency declared by Walpole Island First Nation to stem the flow of drugs into the community.
Police are urging anyone who might have information on this incident or other suspicious activities in the area to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or *OPP (677) on your mobile phone, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or submit a tip online at www.sarnialambtoncrimestoppers.org.
