Charges have been laid in connection to drug busts at two border crossings in the region.
Officials with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office say a Canada-bound commercial vehicle was pulled in for secondary inspection at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit last Thursday. Officers then found several bricks of a white powdery substance concealed within multiple boxes and two duffel bags. Roughly 474 kilograms of cocaine were seized and the truck driver, a citizen of India, was arrested.
Meantime, at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, a truck attempting to cross into Canada was stopped. CPB officers and the canine unit uncovered more than 400 bags of methamphetamine. In that case, authorities say a Canadian citizen driving the truck was arrested.
