More Flooding Expected Along Thames River Flats

Flooding along the Thames River.

Local conservation officials continue to keep tabs on the Thames River as milder temperatures continue this week.

Officials with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority say the snowpack in the upper reaches of the watershed are expected to be mostly melted by the end of the week, raising water levels and flooding low-lying river flats from Delaware to Chatham.

More rain is expected this weekend, which could raise water levels even further.

Officials say since most of the snow has already melted from the lower Thames River watershed, smaller rivers and creeks that drain into the Thames or directly into the lakes are not expected to rise much further.
