Provincial funding is helping to give a bit of a refresh to the Wallaceburg Seniors’ Citizens Club.

The group has been given $52,693 to help buy new kitchen appliances, exercise equipment, and material for the seniors’ choir, as well as a significant portion of the club’s operating expenses.

The Thamesville Happy Club is also on the receiving end of some funding with $19,318.

“The Wallaceburg Senior Citizens’ Club is very happy to receive the continued support of the Province of Ontario in promoting seniors’ health and well-being here in our community,” said Jill VanZelst, Coordinator of the Wallaceburg club. “What we provide has both physical and social components which are equally necessary for a life of fulfillment.”

Frank Trainor, Treasurer of the Thamesville Happy Club, added “This money helps to keep seniors in our community active and healthy. We truly appreciate this funding from the Province of Ontario.”

Similar funding announcements were made earlier this month for seniors groups in Chatham, Blenheim, Ridgetown, and others.
