Nearly 280,000 Ontario residents – including Chatham-Kent – will soon benefit from improved access to high speed internet.

Provincial officials say the pandemic highlighted how important it is to have a high speed internet connection for our work and our lives.

The Ontario and Canadian governments are working together to increase their investments in broadband infrastructure with more than $1.2 billion to support large scale, fibre based projects that will provide high speed internet access to all corners of the province by 2025.

While the announcement does mention increased high speed internet access to customers in a number of communities around Chatham-Kent, including Chatham, Wallaceburg, Dresden, and various rural areas of the municipality, no timelines or other specifics have been announced at this point.
