Emergency crews have once again responded to downtown Wheatley.
For the third time in the past week, officials with Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue say a strong odour of gas was detected in the area of 35 Talbot Street West, the Wheatley branch of the Chatham-Kent Public Library, shortly before 11:30 Friday morning.
Authorities said no evacuations were ordered, hydro services remained active, and all local businesses remained open and are operating as usual. The library remains remains closed.
The all-clear was sounded just before 2 o’clock that afternoon, however, fire crews remained on site doing checks into the afternoon.
A CKAert will be sent in the event any action is required from residents. You can sign up to receive alerts at www.CKAlerts.ca.
