More Help Coming for Riverview Gardens

Due to provincial regulations regarding patient care at long-term care homes, there will be a hiring boom at area long-term homes.

At their meeting on Monday night, Chatham-Kent councillors received an update about the new regulations, which will provide three hours of care per resident per day by March 2022, and four hours of care per resident per day by 2025.

This will require more personal support workers, registered practical nurses and registered nurses. To meet this need at Chatham-Kent’s Riverview Gardens, recruitment has begun to hire 40 people to provide direct nursing care. Overall, there will be 80 new positions at Riverview Gardens by 2023.

The new positions will be fully funded by the province.
