A pair of local organizations are scratching plans for upcoming fundraisers because of the ongoing pandemic.
The annual Hike for Hospice has been postponed. The fundraiser was initially planned for May 3rd, but is being put off until June 14th. However, organizers say with the rapidly changing reality of the pandemic, they may also consider a virtual walk/run.
In a release, Chatham-Kent Hospice officials say they’re already seeing an impact on donations, and are urging area residents to help where they can.
Meantime, Community Living Wallaceburg is putting is 20th annual Box Lunch on hold until the fall.
“We greatly understand the level of importance this program has to both our Agency and members within the community,” Deborah Hook, Executive Director says. “While we realize this importance, the Agency has closely monitored Health Canada and Public Health Ontario communications, and identified many risks with holding the program at this time.”
Anyone who has purchased a lunch order will be contacted by the agency and given the opportunity to receive a refund, or have their order honored when the program relaunches in the fall.
