A common theme of Chatham-Kent council meetings over the past couple of years, has been how the municipality—especially Chatham, has seen tremendous growth.

Council has given the go-ahead to numerous apartment and housing subdivision developments last year, and the theme of growth will continue in 2022 at the Chatham-Kent council’s planning meeting scheduled for tonight.

Council will look at approving a zoning bylaw amendment to rezone property on Park Ave. West to allow for a development consisting of 113 single detached dwellings, and 48 townhouse units in eight six-unit buildings, totaling 161 units.

Maple City Homes is the developer for the housing subdivision.

Council will also consider zoning bylaw amendments to allow for the construction of a six-storey apartment on Grand Ave. that will consist of 81 units, as well as a six-unit row house to be built in the community of Blenheim.
