Chatham-Kent council approved taking steps to assist a group to wants to focus on helping Wheatley bounce back from a gas explosion that destroyed part of their downtown in August.
Chatham-Kent Economic Development staff will prepare a report about what needs to be done by the municipality to support the newly formed Wheatley Future Strategic Planning Group, which was created by the Wheatley BIA.
The group is similar in scope to the former Wallaceburg Community Task Force, which was formed almost 15 years ago to help the community rebound economically after a number of business closures.
A report will outline recommendations for implementation, funding support and strategies, and will come back to council in March.
