waterA Chatham Township farmer is voicing his concerns about future wind turbine developments.

Don Crowe says there are several Otter Creek turbines that are planned to be built near his property, and he’s worried that recent well issues in North Kent will happen to him too.

“We’re very worried about the damage these wind turbines will cause to our water, our well has been on our farm for over 112 years,” Crowe says. “I’ve had three different realtors, not only from around here but from other places, that said they’ll take a million or two million dollar farm, take the water away, and it’s basically a financial shambles.”

Crowe says he hopes the Municipality will put the people first.

Mayor Randy Hope has recently come forward saying that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has been silent for too long, and he’s written a letter to the Minister saying that the water wells matter requires immediate attention.
